SALZBURG
This city with a magnificent Baroque Old Town has been a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1997. Hohensalzburg fortress is the largest completely preserved castle in central Europe, Mozart was born at no. 9 Getreidegasse and Schloss Hellbrunn is one of the finest examples of Mannerist architecture north of the Alps. Also not to be missed are the many Baroque churches and the Mirabell Garden.
VILLACH
The closest you‘ll get to the Mediterranean in Austria. For centuries, a river crossing, trading centre, border town and hub for many important transport routes. SWIMMING LAKES IN CARINTHIA
